Know-it-Alls Don’t Know What They’re Missing

I have a friend who knows everything.

Well, she thinks she does.

If you can stand being around her you have to ignore her “I knew that” comments and try not to roll your eyes. Her “No, you have to do that another way” suggestions can put anyone over the edge.

You probably know someone like that. We all do. Without realizing it, you may be spending less time with someone who knows it all and more time with those who don’t.

What a know-it-all doesn’t realize is that her or she is missing out on a few things.

Good resources. Web sites, news outlets and blogs are filled with valuable resources to help grow a business. A know-it-all doesn’t want to hear about anything that can teach her more than she already knows (or thinks she knows).

New opportunities. Whether it’s trying a new piece of technology, attending a business seminar or partnering with another business owner, a know-it-all is stubborn and won’t do anything differently. By not opening herself up to new opportunities, her competitors are passing her by.

Relationships and business contacts. My friend stays in touch with a small group of business contacts whose businesses haven’t grown in years. Instead of aligning herself with other business owners who could help her expand her business and explore new markets, she stays stuck in the past.

When you focus on learning new things, listening to others, and exposing yourself to new ways of doing business, it’s amazing how much you and your business can grow. Unfortunately, not everyone knows that.

    Nice one Lisa
Yes we all know a “know it all”.

Reminds me of my favourite Batman and Robin quote.

Robin says to batman… “Gee Batman is there anything you don’t know.”

Batman replies… “Yes Robin… there are several things.”

Sounds as though your friend knows even more than Batman. LOL
